Orléans Photo Club Fall Challenge 2005For OPC Members A reminder...the deadline for submissions for the Fall Challenge is fast approaching!! It's here, you can feel it, you can see it. The trees quickly change from green to every colour under the sun. The air is fresh, the days are shorter. A photographer's paradise. Time to get out those cameras and capture the sense of the season! Time to enter the Orléans Photo Club Fall Challenge. Your pictures, taken between September 24 and November 11 must be submitted by November 12, the date of our regular meeting. This challenge is designed to stretch your photographic eye...to task you to take the picture that tells the story, to capture the image where others only do snapshots. Submission Guidelines Any member of the Orléans Photo Club is eligible to enter. All photos must be taken this fall from September 25 to November 11 2005. All submissions must be in to the Competition Director by November 12. Judging will take place at a special meeting of the Orléans Photo Club tentatively scheduled for November 26, at the VACO Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend...it is a great opportunity to learn what makes a winning photograph! The categories for submissions are as follows: Challenge 1: Fall Colours, Naturally! You know it's pretty. It is one of the most beautiful times of year. Fall colours, in all their forms, are one of the great traditional photographer's themes, but can you make that one incredible shot that will take the viewer's breath away? Sure you can! Your challenge is to capture the colours of the season, show people that live at the equator what they are missing. And yes, white is a colour...snow counts too! Challenge 2: A Day in the Life of Orléans You are a photographer on assignment...your editor wants to illustrate an article about our fair town. How will you capture the essence of Orléans? How can you show what it is like at this point in time, this place? Surely we have something to offer here! Take that picture that will be on the cover of Orléans Monthly. Pictures must be taken within the boundaries of Orléans as you understand them (no GPS required!). Challenge 3: The Nation's Capital Parliament Hill. The Cenotaph. Chateau Laurier. Supreme Court. The nations' capital, Ottawa's prime tourist attraction. A million pictures are taken here. But can you capture the essence of this place? Can you take the picture that tourists may have overlooked? Show us what you see in this common tourist attraction, go beyond the ordinary and show us the beauty and the history of the place. Anything goes as long as it is around the Hill. (While you are out there...don't forget the upcoming Interclub Competition in the Spring, theme: "Canada"!) Contestants are limited to five (5) images for the entire Fall Challenge. You can enter your photos in any of the categories (example: 1 in each; 5 in one challenge; 2 in one challenge and 3 in another, etc.)...any combination as long as you know you can only enter up to five maximum. Each entry must be accompanied by your name and category the picture is being submitted for. Information is to be posted on backside of prints (no information on front), or in body of email submission if digital. Digital Digital submissions must be 768 pixels maximum on the long side (vertical or
horizontal). Digital submissions can be sent via email at
mscott@millenniumwave.com, or by FTP through the members route described at
