Orleans Photo Club Summer Challenge 2005

Just a reminder..summer is coming to a close (NO!!! NO!!!!) and the time to enter the Orleans Photo Club Summer Challenge is almost upon us. Your pictures, taken between June 21 and September 5 must be submitted by September 10, the date of our regular meeting. (Revised from previous date). We will be conducting the judging for the submissions on a special Summer Challenge Meeting on Saturday September 24.

Challenge 1: Best Fireworks Photo: Fireworks hold a special challenge for the photographer...bright, fleeting explosions in the dark sky. Consider how you can capture the essence of the experience. Consider the opportunities...July 1st celebrations at Petrie Island, Parliament Hill, the International Fireworks Competitions at Lac Leamy. Hmmm...how will you capture the moment?

Challenge 2: The Country Fair, the Summer Event: 'Tis the season for the country fair and the gathering of people to celebrate the return of summer days. How about the best shot representing the mood of a country fair? Colours, action, bustle of crowds, cows and chickens and noisy machines, all the ingredients for fine photography. How can you say "County Fair" in one picture? Or how about that summer event...the Musical Ride, the Highland Games, road races, music concerts and charity events. Can a picture tell someone who wasn't there what they missed?

Challenge 3: The Time Machine: Ahhh, life long ago. What must it have been like? Less stress? Hard work, idyllic times? Think Upper Canada Village or Cumberland Village or all the surrounding museums or forts or antique car shows...we have great local opportunities to take the time machine into the past and make the image that represents a day in the life of long ago. Show us what life was like back then in the village!
