Orleans Photo Club Summer Challenge 2006

Summer is here again with all its wonderful photo ops! Time to think about some fun challenges to stretch your photo muscles and build your toolbox of talent. The Orleans Photo Club is hosting a series of photographic challenges and invites you to showcase your imagination and technical skills. We have developed three challenges for your consideration. Load your camera with film or storage cards and get out there!

Submission Guidelines

Any member of the Orléans Photo Club is eligible to enter.

All photos must be taken this summer from June 10, 2006 to September 8, 2006. All submissions must be in to the Competition Director by September 9, 2006.

Judging will take place at a special meeting of the Orléans Photo Club to be arranged in Septmber. Everyone is welcome to attend...it is a great opportunity to learn what makes a winning photograph!

Categories

Challenge 1: Into the Night
Might seem kinda backward…just when the light is disappearing, it’s the best time to get out the camera! From dusk to dawn, magical moments are there for you to capture…city lights, the stars and the moon, candle glows. From when the sun goes below the horizon, to the time the sun sets, take your best shot. Capture the night, and don’t forget the magic hours…when the sky is deep blue just after sunset and before sunrise.

Challenge 2: What I Did On My Summer Vacation
Remember your class assignment in September…write an essay about what you did on your summer vacation? Well, this will be a whole lot more fun. Capture the essence of what you did this summer…country fairs, celebrations, summer events, days at the cottage or on that trip. Can a picture tell someone who wasn’t there what they missed?

Challenge 3: Sky and Water
Summer is all about breathing in the fresh air…ahhhh, the beautiful skies and the sounds of the waves lapping at your feet. Show in a photograph, the beauty of water, the beautiful skies.

Challenge Rules

Contestants are limited to five (5) images for the entire Summer Challenge. You can enter your photos in any of the categories (example: 1 in each; 5 in one challenge; 2 in one challenge and 3 in another, etc.)...any combination as long as you know you can only enter up to five maximum.

All photos must be taken this summer from June 10, 2006 to September 8, 2006. All submissions must be in to the Competition Director by September 9, 2006.

Each entry must be accompanied by your name and category the picture is being submitted for. Information is to be posted on backside of prints (no information on front), or in body of email submission if digital.

Digital Digital submissions must be 768 pixels maximum on the long side (vertical or horizontal). Digital submissions can be sent via email at mscott@millenniumwave.com or by CD.
Prints Prints can be delivered at the meeting on September 9. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact Michael Scott at 841-6431 or mscott@millenniumwave.com

First, second and third place winners in each category will receive a ribbon, bragging rights and honour of being published on the OPC website (if desired!)
