Orléans Photo Club Fall Challenge 2006

For OPC Members

Submission Guidelines

Any member of the Orléans Photo Club is eligible to enter.

All photos must be taken this fall from September 9 to November 10, 2006. All submissions must be in to the Competition Director by November 11, the date of our regular meeting. This challenge is designed to stretch your photographic eye...to task you to take the picture that tells the story, to capture the image where others only do snapshots..

Judging will take place at a meeting of the Orléans Photo Club at the VACO Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend...it is a great opportunity to learn what makes a winning photograph!

The categories for submissions are as follows:

Challenge 1: The Colour Warm Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year. The green of summer slowly, then rapidly, explodes into a rainbow of colours. Our focus this challenge is the reds, oranges, browns and yellows that signify the warm colours. Your challenge is to capture these colours and give us that warm fuzzy feeling as the days and nights turn colder. It could be nature or it could be man made, as long as the predominate colour is nice and warm.

Challenge 2: In My Neighbourhood Our Inter-Club theme this year is “In My Neighbourhood”. Leaves a lot to the imagination, don’t it? It could really be your neighbourhood, but then again, it could be anyone’s neighbourhood. Really, neighbourhood is wherever you are…even Mars is in our neighbourhood, eh? Capture the sense of neighbourhood, the sense of place, the essence of time. Here is your opportunity to get feedback on your upcoming submissions for the spring Inter-club competition. (NOTE: since there is no restriction on when the Inter-club images are taken, there is no restriction here as well).

Challenge 3: Reflections Reflections are everywhere…in mirrors, in water, chrome bumpers, glass and…quit following me!!! Just kidding…the topic is reflections…capture the reflected world, and answer me this…when you look in the mirror, you see right and left reversed. How come you don’t see top and bottom reversed?

Contestants are limited to five (5) images for the entire Fall Challenge. You can enter your photos in any of the categories (example: 1 in each; 5 in one challenge; 2 in one challenge and 3 in another, etc.)...any combination as long as you know you can only enter up to five maximum.

Each entry must be accompanied by your name and category the picture is being submitted for. Information is to be posted on backside of prints (no information on front), or in body of email submission if digital.

Digital Digital submissions must be 768 pixels maximum on the long side (vertical or horizontal). Digital submissions can be sent via email to mscott@millenniumwave.com.
Prints Prints can be delivered at the meeting in November. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact Michael Scott at 841-6431 or mscott@millenniumwave.com.

First, second and third place winners in each category will receive a ribbon, bragging rights and honour of being published on the OPC website (if desired!)

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Orléans Photo Club Competition Director, Michael Scott. Please email questions, comments, (or entries) to: mscott@millenniumwave.com . Stay tuned to this page for updated information.

We look forward to your entries. We hope you will enjoy the Fall Challenge 2006.
